About Us

ConcreteVolume is a set of free construction calculators covering concrete volume, bags, weight, mix ratios, ballast, mortar and blocks — in metric and imperial, with figures for the US, UK and Europe.

Why we built it

Most concrete calculators online do one of three things badly. They serve one country, so a British user gets an answer in cubic yards and 80 lb bags. They hide the formula, so you cannot check the number before ordering four tonnes of material. Or they bury the tool under so much advertising that the calculator is the smallest thing on the page.

Ours show the working. Every page includes the formula, a worked example, and the reference tables the calculator uses, so you can sanity-check the result yourself.

Where the numbers come from

  • Volumes are straight geometry — no rounding until the final display.
  • Bag yields use the manufacturers’ published figures: 0.60 ft³ for an 80 lb bag, 0.45 for a 60 lb, roughly 0.0116 m³ for a 25 kg bag.
  • Mix quantities use the dry-volume method with the standard 1.54 bulking factor, and a water/cement ratio of 0.5.
  • Densities are 2,400 kg/m³ for standard concrete, 1,750 for lightweight and 2,500 for high-density and reinforced design work.
  • Prices are indicative 2026 market ranges, reviewed periodically. Always get a local quote before budgeting.

What this site is not

It is an estimating tool, not an engineer. Quantities vary with ground conditions, compaction, over-dig and waste. Foundations, retaining walls, suspended slabs and anything load-bearing need designing by a qualified structural engineer and signing off under your local building regulations. Confirm final quantities with your supplier before you order.
